Recently, the CEO of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System — Sulphur Springs, Paul Harvey, learned that his team saved $55,000 on a mobile C-arm, a medical imaging device, by using a successful supply chain strategy. And in a story featured in the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram, Harvey and his team recap the project and lessons learned working collaboratively with OpenMarkets. The CHRISTUS team began by working with Keith Kelly who is the organization’s operation room director. Using The OpenMarkets platform, Kelly managed the process and workflow for the whole transaction. Todd DeRoo, the AVP of Supply Chain was brought in throughout the process to steer the equipment request to the right suppliers.

“Our strategic contracting team, in partnership with OpenMarkets, was able to find several suppliers able to offer a solution for the department,” states DeRoo. “Ultimately the department gave us direction on the supplier of choice as well as the latitude to find the most-effective way to get the equipment into the hospital.”

For DeRoo, this meant exploring and ultimately opting to purchase a reconditioned machine instead of brand new equipment.

Facilitating better collaboration is at the core of the OpenMarkets Exchange. With instant messaging and a centralized platform to track files and communication, providers and suppliers can transform the procurement process together.
